Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center, the multi-purpose

cultural space located at 2410 Wickham Avenue in the Southeast community of Newport News, is hosting the 18th Annual Fitzgerald Music Festival Saturday, April 23rd. The festival, headlined by R&B artist Vivian Green, will open at 8 p.m. with Heritage High School Legacy Singers. Past performers include major R&B recording artists Lalah Hathaway, Freddie Jackson, Roy Ayers, and Chrisette Michele.
Honoring the legacy of Newport News native Ella Fitzgerald, the Ella Fitzgerald Music Festival originally started as a partnership between Christopher Newport University and the City of Newport News. The Ella Fitzgerald Music Festival is now a signature event in Newport News that celebrates the musical heritage of the City during Jazz Appreciation Month.
