Chesapeake Bay Packing is currently the largest chesapeake_bapacking_SCseafood related wholesaler in Newport News Seafood Industrial Park. Being in the ideal location, Chesapeake Bay Packing is able to harvest, prepare, and process many types of domestic and imported seafood products with the Atlantic Sea Scallop being their most prominent.

Thousands of pounds of scallops are unloaded at Chesapeake Bay Packing daily. Scallops are processed in their 40,000 square-foot USDA approved plant located on Jefferson Avenue. They use quality assurance verifications at each phase of processing, from their nitrogen freezing method to their automated packaging system which allows them to process 60,000 to 80,000 pounds daily. After packing, the products are shipped throughout the United States and exported globally. In recent years, Chesapeake Bay Packing introduced “Just Caught,” justcaughtscallopssca brand of fresh sea scallops and is also expanding marketing opportunities by integrating “value-added products” to their offerings, such as bacon wrapped scallops.

The company currently holds four food safety certifications from the Marine Stewardship Council, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The certifications help the company to maintain high standards in food processing and environmental stewardship.
