Learn How to Protect Children Online

Posted on February 22, 2017 at 8:18 AM by Communications Department

Digital Citizenship forum to be held next week.

What is Digital Citizenship you ask? In 2017, many Digital Citizenshipteenagers are accessing online resources,  social media and streaming entertainment that compromises their safety, morals, and even  their future. To help teach families more about digital citizenship,  Newport News Public Schools Technology and the Youth Development Department are offering a family event on Digital Citizenship at Crittenden Middle School on February 28th at 6:30 PM. In this forum, students will learn how to protect themselves and be proactive as they become productive citizens in society.

The forum is offered in partnership with the Newport News Police Department and Building Better Futures Youth and Gang Violence Prevention Initiative.  Families can learn more on digital reputation, Cyberbullying, self-image and internet safety during the forum’s breakout sessions. The messages will be demonstrated in creative and engaging ways utilizing technology.  Bring the family for door prizes, giveaways and lots of valuable information.
