Back by popular demand, the Newport News Public Library System will be hosting its 3rd Annual ToshoCon Anime Convention on 4-14 toshocon_SCSaturday, April 16th at Main Street Library from 11 AM to 4 PM. Every year hundreds of youth, ages 12 to 17, flock to the library to enjoy a wide variety of free activities, including screenings, crafts, workshops, dance, music, and a photo booth. This year’s event has been enhanced with a few new additions that include board and card games, drawing workshops, and food vendors. The food and comic related items are available for purchase.

Teens will have plenty to do at the Convention. There will be a video game competition, a rock-paper-scissors tournament, an Instagram photo contest, and a cosplay contest. For the cosplay contest, teens are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters and compete for the chance to win prizes. Participants interested in competing in the contest should preregister online at Cosplay Registration. Although the contest is only open to ages 12-17, all ages are welcome to watch the competition which begins at 2 PM.

Guests are also being treated to a special presentation of “Little Red Riding Hood: Zombie Slayer,” featuring special makeup effects artist Wade Cutrell and professional costume designer Cailin Hammer. More information is available online at ToshoCon.
