Youth in Newport News are taking a stand against bullying! Participants in the City of Newport News Youth Programs took on a major challenge in February of raising money to support education and prevention programs to help keep the communities, schools, and playgrounds safe.

Keeping with the
Mayor’s Initiative to End Bullying, Youth Programs partnered with Parents Against Bullying (P.A.B.), a local organization making great strides in educating youth and adults on the effects of bullying and how prevention can decrease the damage. Youth Programs participants celebrated their fundraising efforts on April 7 by donating more than $7,000 to P.A.B., with “Kick For A Cause”, a single-elimination kickball tournament hosted at Denbigh Community Center.
Parents Against Bullying’s mission is to continuously expand their presence in the community increasing awareness through prevention programs and outreach. Funds received during the “Kick for a Cause” event will be used to assist the organization in developing curriculum and materials to be used as a reinforcement tool for large groups.
