Kids Day to be Held at Virginia War Museum on January 16

The Virginia War Museum will host its fifth annual Kids Day on Monday January 16, between 10 AM and 3 PM. Youth ages 7 -15 will have the opportunity to attend the Kids Wargaming Convention that will include activities such as miniature war games, kid friendlyKids Day VWM_2017_CR_SC living historians and re-enactors, a museum scavenger hunt, and a police SWAT team display. A Revolutionary War Drill and activities will be provided by the Youth Regiment of Virginia and the official announcement of the Museum’s 2017 WWII Summer Camp dates and theme will take place.

The Virginia War Museum is located at 9285 Warwick Blvd. in Newport News. The event is free with regular museum admission ($8.00 Adults/$7.00 active duty service personnel/$7.00 senior citizens and $6.00 for children ages 7 to 18.

The museum displays outstanding collections of personal artifacts, weapons, vehicles, uniforms, posters and much more which trace the development of the U.S. military from 1775 through the present. See a section of the Berlin Wall and a portion of the outer wall from Dachau Concentration Camp. Galleries include Women at War and Marches Toward Freedom, exploring the roles of women and African-Americans in the military and Visions of War, the museum's outstanding propaganda poster collection.
