Newport News Public Works Wastewater Division has just launched a new page on its website to provide more information to residents about Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG), and food waste disposal.

Both grease and food scraps can create problems if poured or placed down the drain. One of the goals of the page is to help educate our residents about the impact grease and food scraps can have on household and City plumbing and pipes.
As a resident, you can make a difference not only to the City’s infrastructure, but also the plumbing in your house, apartment or condo. Whether you are an owner or a renter, it only takes small steps to improve the quality of what flows out of your sewer pipes. Residents are encouraged to do their part to help prevent sewer blockages. Doing so will benefit your home, your wallet, and your community.
