The Newport News and Hampton Fire Departments continue to work closely on the Shared Services Agreement, an agreement requiring both stations to share resources and work together for the delivery of fire and emergency medical services to the community.

Recently, both cities began the Automatic Aid process to dispatch fire units from both cities to fires along the borders of Newport News and Hampton. At this time, fire units are responding together on structure fires and other emergencies in the fire districts covered by Newport News Fire Station 7 and Hampton Fire Station 9 (Briarfield Avenue area).
There are several committees that include members of both fire departments and both 911 dispatch centers that are working on the process to assure that outstanding service is provided to our citizens. The plan is to add two additional Fire Stations to the process in the coming weeks, Newport News Fire Station 2 and Hampton Fire Station 3 (Southeast Community area). Gradually, all fire districts along the border of both cities will be included in the Automatic Aid emergency response process.
