As always, the guide is packed with information about all there is to see and do in Newport News. It includes three pages of restaurants – listing more than 50 establishments, both nationally known chains and local favorites – and a four-page calendar of events that includes highlights on the city’s most popular events, such as the One City Marathon, World Arts Celebration, Fall Festival of Folklife, Celebration in Lights, and Hollydazzle. There’s also a spotlight on Ella Fitzgerald, who was born in Newport News in April 1917. Check out the special events we have planned throughout the year that tell the story of Ella’s extraordinary life and legacy.

Back again in this year’s guide are two new “first-person” testimonials from residents, who give insider tips on everything from eating out and bargain shopping to nightlife and outdoor fun. Attractions profiled in the guide include The Mariners’ Museum and Park and the Virginia Living Museum, plus the City’s four historic homes – Endview Plantation, the James A. Fields House, Lee Hall Mansion and The Newsome House Museum & Cultural Center. Additional points of interest include the Peninsula Fine Arts Center, the U.S. Army Transportation Museum and the Virginia War Museum. Each listing includes current admission prices and operating hours.

The guide’s clip-able coupons provide discounted admission to Endview Plantation, Lee Hall Mansion, The Mariners’ Museum and Park, Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Peninsula SPCA & Petting Zoo, Virginia Living Museum, and the Virginia War Museum. There’s also a coupon for 25% off any purchase over $20 at the Newport News Visitor Center gift shop.

Call the Newport News Visitor Center at 757-886-7777 or click here to order a complimentary copy of the Newport News Visitor Guide. Produced annually by the Newport News Tourism Development Office, the guide is expected to be available for pickup the last week of December at the Newport News Visitor Center, 13560 Jefferson Ave., and at other locations throughout Newport News.
