The Newport News Sheriff's Office (NNSO) has been made the
Best for Vets: Law Enforcement list by the Military Times for a second year.

The NNSO was recognized for its recruiting strategies that are focused on department culture and policies aimed at attracting veterans and reservists.
By answering the publication’s nearly 100-question survey, the Sheriff’s Office demonstrated its commitment to extending hiring preferences. Agencies are evaluated on their military recruiting, service member-related policies, rules for reservists, and departmental culture.
"Veterans have many qualities that make them a good fit to join us,” says Sheriff Gabe Morgan. “We appreciate their strong work ethic, good character and their ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds,” Sheriff Morgan adds.
Best for Vets: Law Enforcement 2017 is

an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that make an agency a good fit for military veterans and reservists. The rankings are published in full in the issues of Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times on newsstands now. Men and women exiting the military use the information to guide them toward their next career.
