The 2016 Virginia Senior Games are coming to Newport News

on May 18 – 21. Athletes age 50 and older from throughout Virginia will compete in 18 sports at various venues in the city. This is the fourth consecutive year that Newport News Parks, Recreation & Tourism has hosted the Virginia Senior Games. Unlike other competitions, the Senior Games do not require a qualifying score to compete. Medalists (except for Billiards and Softball) will qualify to compete in Birmingham, Alabama at the 2017 Summer National Senior Games.
The public is encouraged to attend the free events

and cheer on seniors as they compete in archery, badminton, basketball, billiards, bowling, cycling, disc golf, golf, horseshoes, pickelball, racquetball, road race, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track & field, and Volleyball.
