To better meet the needs of the public, the
Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter now has extended adoption hours. The Shelter is normally open for adoptions Wednesday through Monday 1-5 PM, but they are now offering few extra hours on Thursdays and Fridays.

On Thursdays the Shelter is open 12-5 PM and on Fridays the Shelter is open 12-7 PM. They are anticipating adding more hours soon. The Shelter’s staff hopes the new extended hours will create an increase in adoptions for the many animals that need homes.
The shelter continues to be open seven days a week from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM for owner surrenders, stray drop-offs, and owner re-claims. For more questions about the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter or adoption fees and requirements, contact the shelter at 757-933-8900 or visit the
shelter’s website. Located at 5843 Jefferson Avenue in Newport News, this regional animal shelter is managed and operated by the City of Newport News and also serves the localities of Hampton, Poquoson, and York County.
