Newport News Police Making Friends, Engage with the Community

Newport News Central Precinct officers were recently invited to be 4-8 police._SCa part of a community event at Regency Square Apartments. Regency Square management and Temple Baptist Church hosted the event for residents and NNPD officers and members of the Newport News Fire Department attended. Residents of all ages were able to meet and spend time with officers and firefighters, learn about the equipment and some even got to sit in the emergency vehicles. The Central Precinct Police & Pals trailer was a huge hit. Throughout the event, children and officers played various sports and games and had a great time making new friendships.

This is just one of many Newport News Police 4-8 police 2_SCDepartment community policing efforts. Over the past few months, Central Precinct officers held two bicycle giveaway events for the children of Regency Square and coordinated several clothing and blanket drives for the residents. “NNPD remains committed to the community we serve and certainly thanks Regency Square for inviting us to be a part of their special day,” Assistant Police Chief Stacy Kelly said.
