Celebrate The Season at Hollydazzle in Newport News

Posted on November 22, 2016 at 8:21 AM by Communications Department

The City of Newport News is ushering in the holidays with the 13th Annual Hollydazzle, Hampton Roads’ most unique holiday event. Bring your family and friends Saturday, December 3, from 4-8 PM to City Center at Oyster Point for this free family event. Enjoy activities and entertainment leading up to the spectacular Light Show with fireworks and special effects and the lighting of the 45 foot tree beginning at 7:45 PM.

While walking around, check out the living statues, fire performers, magicians, a spray paint artist, and stilt walkers. Children can get interactive with “make and take” holiday crafts, dance performances, and face painting. Need to pick up gifts and stocking stuffers? The Hollydazzle Holiday Market, a one-day pop-up holiday shopping experience will feature 25 local vendors offering high-quality, handmade goods. Food vendors are selling dinner items, snacks, and holiday treats (kettle corn, popcorn, hot chocolate, German roasted nuts, funnel cakes, turkey legs, and more).

Choral groups, musicians, dancers, and variety acts are performing on four stages. Enjoy musical, comedy and dance performances from Mary Passage Middle School Orchestra, City Arts Dance Company, The Academy of Dance Showbiz Kids, A Capella Groups, Warwick Assembly of God Christmas Chorus, Santa Bones Holiday, a violinist, and bands.

A free, continuous shuttle bus service will be provided to and from the event area and Canon from 3 to 9 PM (the last shuttle bus from the Canon satellite parking lot leaves at 7 PM or when the lot is full). Private business parking lots in Oyster Point may enforce towing. For your pet’s safety and the safety of the crowds of people attending the event, please leave your pets at home. Only service animals are permitted on the shuttle buses. A designated viewing area for handicapped guests is available on the Fountain Plaza for the light show.

For complete information, visit the Hollydazzle website or call 757-926-1400. The website includes maps showing road closures and parking areas, the event programhollydazzle 1_SC with performance times, and the event site map. In the case of inclement weather on Saturday, the fireworks show and the lighting of the tree will take place on Sunday, December 4, from 7:30 - 8 PM (the other Hollydazzle activities will not be rescheduled).
