November 24 through January 1
Celebration in Lights, Virginia’s first drive-through holiday light event, opens for its 24th season on Thanksgiving night. Come see Newport News Park transformed by over 800,000 individual lights creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes.

New display pieces being added this year include blooming cherry trees in the Peace Garden, Magical Trees that change colors, a penguin snowball fight, gingerbread people, new toys, and more animated snow tubes that create a snowfall effect. Old displays are continuing to be refurbished with energy efficient LED bulbs. The event features more than 300 individual display pieces including 70 animated displays, 43 arches, and rope lighting to enhance the natural beauty of the two-mile drive along Newport News Park’s main road.
