Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center has two great

shows for all ages heading to the stage this month. Saturday, November 18, the story of Newport News native and jazz icon Ella Fitzgerald will hit the stage. The event is a flashback on the evening of November 21st, 1934, when a young dancer headed to Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater and decided to sing instead. This story of Ella Fitzgerald is presented in partnership with Peach Fuzz Entertainment and begins at 8 PM. The show is free and open to the public.
The following Saturday, November 26, bring the family to see the wonderful musical presented by the Barter Players Encore Tour. The play tells the story of a

young orphan named Billy who discovers magic in a stolen hat. He places the hat on a snowman’s head, that snowman comes to life helps Billy to find his real family in time for Christmas. Join Billy and Frosty as they embark on a New York City adventure filled with thrills and chills, and as they discover that the real magic of Christmas is Love.
