Voters across Newport News headed to the polls yesterday to cast their ballots and exercise their right to vote. Following are the results of the local area races.
House of Representatives: Bobby Scott has been re-elected to represent the 3rd U.S. Congressional District in the House of Representatives in Washington D.C. by defeating challenger Marty Williams. This will be Scott’s 13th term in Congress.
Senate of Virginia: In a special election to fill the remaining term of the late John Miller, former State Delegate Monty Mason was elected to represent the 1st Virginia Senate District in Richmond. Mason gave up his seat representing the 93rd House of Delegates seat to run. He defeated John Bloom and Thomas Holston in the special election.
Virginia House of Delegates: Michael Mullin will be representing the 93rd district in the Virginia House of Delegates in Richmond. He defeated Heather Cordasco. This will be Mullin’s first term holding public office.
