It’s almost time again for the annual Thanksgiving Day

Dinner sponsored by the Newport News YMCA , Councilwoman Scott and New Genesis.The event is held on Thanksgiving Day with dinners served at the YMCA on Warwick Boulevard and at the Denbigh Community Center. The Thanksgiving dinners will also be delivered to Newport News Police personnel on duty on Thanksgiving Day, and to those who are homeless throughout the city.
If you would like to volunteer on Thanksgiving Day, view the various opportunities below. Designated time slots are provided for the different locations. The two churches listed below are near the YMCA and/or Denbigh Community Center and have donated the use of their full service kitchens to prepare food for serving and distribution on Thanksgiving Day.
- First United Methodist Church Volunteer Sign up -Volunteers at the First United Methodist Church will be cooking and re-warming meals and cleaning up the kitchen before leaving. This location will supply food to the Newport News Family YMCA Thanksgiving Dinner.
Teams will also be making meal boxes to be delivered to local precincts, the mission and other disbursements out of the Denbigh Community Center.
- Newport News YMCA Volunteer Sign up - Volunteers at the Newport News Family YMCA will be setting up, serving, fellowshipping, and cleaning up. This location will be serving patrons food.
