The appearance of city streets is one element

of what can make a place attractive. From grass mowing and landscaping to the removal of litter and illegal signage, City departments make considerable efforts to keep our rights-of-way attractive. City Code prohibits the placement of posters and temporary signs in the City’s rights-of-way. Unfortunately, this activity is difficult to control because the perceived benefit to advertisers is high and the threat of prosecution to offenders is low. Every few weeks, staff from the Department of Codes Compliance patrol the City’s major thoroughfares to remove illegal signage. When appropriate, staff will engage those responsible to advise them of the City’s code and to take enforcement action.
