On Saturday, November 19, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center, you are invited to view the documentary
Racial Taboo and join a frank and honest community discussion about racism.

Presented by the Newport News Commonwealth's Attorney's Outreach and Education Program and Peninsula Baptist Association Community Outreach, the free viewing of
Racial Taboo will educate viewers about historic and institutionalized racial issues. Some of the topics in the documentary and for discussion include why race is still a taboo conversation, building friendships across race and how to create change.
Brian Grimm, Director of Racial Taboo states, "Most white people don't bring it up with a black person because they fear the potential shame of having their prejudice revealed. Many black folks don't want to bring up the subject because they don't trust white folks to be honest about their beliefs or that this time will be any different than the past. As a result, we don't know each other."
