Virginia Living Museum to Hold Annual Oyster Roast Nov. 12

Enjoy all-you-can-eat fresh local Rappahannock Oysters, fried seafood, chowder, sausages, dessert buffet, craft beers, wine, music, raffles and more at the oyster_SCVirginia Living Museum’s fifth annual Oyster Roast Saturday, November 12 from 3 PM to 6 PM. Tickets are available at the museum or for $50 if purchased by November 6 or $60 beginning November 7. Guests must be at least 21 years old to attend and all proceeds benefit the museum’s educational programs and animal care needs.

Food will be provided by Mathews Lions Cub and Waypoint Seafood & Grill. A dessert buffet will be prepared by Stratford University culinary students. Guests receive two drink tickets for craft beer, wine, or hard cider. Enjoy live music by PC Duo and the LCV Project, Louis Vangieri, plus Colonial DJs. The Oyster Roast will be held rain or shine and will move into the museum if inclement weather demands.

The Oyster Roast is an official Virginia Green event. Todd Janeski of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Rice Center will be present to discuss Virginia’s oyster recycling program and to take away all the empty oyster shells to restore oyster habitats in local waters. VLM Aquarium Curator Chris Crippen will have information about sustainable seafood choices. Disposable products such as cups, bowls and food boats will also be recycled.
