The City of Newport News will continue its tradition of honoring the many brave men and women who have served in our nation’s armed forces. The annual
Veterans’ Day ceremony will be held 11 A.M. November 11 at the Victory Arch in downtown Newport News. The ceremony is free and the public is invited to attend.
American Legion Braxton-Perkins Post 25 will host this ceremony. This year’s guest speaker will be Captain Daniel Shultz, Deputy Director of Diving, Deep Submergence, and Arctic Operations and Research, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.
Music will be provided by the Post 25 Brass Quintet and the ceremony will feature a color guard made up of Menchville High School Air Force Junior ROTC cadets who will lay wreaths honoring veterans from the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy,
and Marine Corps. After the ceremony, the public is invited to learn about America's rich military heritage at the Virginia War Museum. Visit the museum on Veterans’ Day and receive $1 off the posted admission price.
