Building Better Futures Partners With Youth Basketball League

Registration opens November 14 for youth ages 13-19

Building Better Futures, the City’s youth BetterFuturesLogo_SCand gang violence prevention initiative, has partnered for a second year with Kevin Swann Enterprises to sponsor a basketball league for boys and girls ages 13-19. Registration will take place on Monday, November 14th at Huntington Middle School Gym from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Tuesday, November 15th at Crittenden Middle School Gym from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. There is no cost to register.

Can’t make the on-site registration orBasketball1_SC have additional questions? Email Steve Hagwood to request a registration form and to ask questions. Registrations will be taken until December 2nd or until the teams are at capacity. The basketball season begins in January and will run until March.

In addition to the regular basketball season participants will also participate in a basketball clinic, mentoring relationships, and empowerment/educational workshops. Last year, the program had 192 participants and ended with a special banquet to honor the participants, volunteers, and community partners. Guests enjoyed keynote speech from Kecoughtan High School Head Basketball Coach Willie Gause.
