Join Newport News Parks, Recreation & Tourism’s Youth Programs Monday, October 31st from 5 PM - 8 PM at Denbigh Community Center for SPOOKTACULAR!!
Spooktacular is a family friendly event that will give youth a safe and fun alternative to add to their Fall Fun "trick or treat" experience this year. Come out for games, crafts, candy and fun for the whole family. The event also gives local businesses and organizations an opportunity to interact with families and give back to the community in an exciting way.

Spooktacular is a great way to stay out of the elements and off the streets on one of the busiest nights of the year. If you already have made other plans, the Youth Program staff want you to be safe and remind you to:

  • Always inspect each piece of candy to ensure they have not been previously opened.
  • Stay away from billowing or long trailing costumes as they can catch fire. When making your own costumes look for fire-resistant materials. Also, ensure they are the right size to prevent trips and falls.
  • If walking, dress in bright, reflective colors and carry a flashlight or glow stick and practice safe walking by: looking left, right and left again when crossing and continue looking while crossing the street.
  • Review with children how to contact 9-1-1 or other local emergency numbers if they get lost or have an emergency.
