The Newport News Police Department is hosting Baby Boomer University, a special event that teaches senior citizens how to protect themselves. Held at the Hilton Senior Center on Thursday, October 13th from 5:30-8:30 PM, the event features presentations from both the Newport News Fire and Police departments.

Discussions at Baby Boomer University focus on telephone scams and fraud; identity theft/elder financial exploitation; fire prevention at home; gang awareness; personal safety away and at home; bullying; self-protection; carrying money; and response to panhandlers in the community.
