The City of Newport News is now accepting applications for the 2017 Cultural Attractions Fund grants from local non-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations. Eligible non-profits must provide cultural arts activities, programs, events and/or services that are easily accessible to Newport News residents and whose costs can be documented. These grant funds are intended to serve as a financial safety net to help with the ongoing viability of the local cultural assets. The grants should serve as an incentive to encourage private fundraising and grant match investments in our local venues.

The City of Newport News recognizes that a strong cultural presence adds to the quality of life in our community and enhances our ability to attract and retain businesses and residents. Three years ago, the City Council established the Cultural Attractions Fund to provide operational and/or project support to local cultural arts entities adversely impacted by the continued effects of the economic recession.
More information and grant applications are available on the City’s
website. The deadline to apply is November 18th.
