Pipeline Installation Continues Along Boxley Boulevard

Posted on September 29, 2016 at 8:58 AM by Communications Department

Motorists who travel Boxley Boulevard should be alert to narrowed lanes marked by cones and barrels as contractors continue installation of a new sanitary sewer pipeline for HRSD, the regional wastewater treatment utility.

To expedite construction, crews are now working on Boxley Boulevard in two locations. One crew is installing pipe at the western end, near Hensley Drive,HRSD_SC while another works at the eastern end, near the Dairy Queen at the intersection of Warwick Boulevard. Two lanes of traffic (one lane in each direction) will be open on Boxley Boulevard from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Due to the multiple underground utilities to cross, this pipe installation will take longer than that already completed along Riverview Parkway and Menchville Road. Final restoration of the entire project area will occur in the spring of 2017 after the pipeline is completed. The new pipeline, which is replacing the one built in the 1970s, will help HRSD protect public health and area waterways for decades to come.
