The 12th Annual Port Warwick Art & Sculpture Festival has

become a yearly staple in Newport News, bringing the arts together. Visit Port Warwick on October 8-9 to see 84 artists display exhibits in twelve different mediums. Will Bellucci, a Master craftsman produces exquisite hand carved vessels, bowls and urns and watch as he performs woodturning demonstrations throughout the weekend. Artist awards are chosen by this year’s juror, Diana L. Blanchard Gross, Curator of the Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Newport News as well as the Curator for the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum, Portsmouth. Returning to the festival is the “Young Collectors Tent,” where children can buy art at huge discounts, spending as little as $5 on art valued for as much as $300. A portion of the proceeds from this tent will help fund an emerging artist scholarship fund.

Enjoy live music from talented local music artists like Narissa Bond, BJ Griffin, Dustin Furlow and many more. In between the band breaks, see ballet performances from the Arts Ballet Academy and ballroom dance demonstrations from Art Inspired. Also watch Tidewater Dance Theater Inc, led by Debbi Evans Davidson, take on the question, “ If a sculpture could speak, what would it say?,” with two performances inspired by Newport News public art sculptures.
