C.R.I.M.E. Initiative Invites Citizens to Get involved

Posted on September 22, 2016 at 8:03 AM by Communications Department

Members of the C.R.I.M.E. (Creating Responsibility In My Environment) Initiative would like to invite Newport News citizens to become involved in this exciting program. C.R.I.M.E. stresses community and citizen involvement by encouraging the City to take an active role in the improvements of their communities. Last year, six crime controlC R I M E_SC goals were developed by the members of C.R.I.M.E. and the Newport News community and six teams were then dedicated to pursuing these goals.

On Saturday, October 1st from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, the C.R.I.M.E. initiative is hosting a Community Summit Event at Warwick High School. At this event attendees have the opportunity to speak with members from each of the six goal teams, and learn more about the initiative and how to get involved with one of the teams as well as the impact it can have in their respective neighborhoods.

The C.R.I.M.E. Team goals are:
1. Positive Partnerships Between the Community & Police
2. Strengthen Families
3. Increase Measurable Success for Youth;
4. Grow & Develop Community Leadership
5. Reduce Homelessness
6. Increase Communications of Positive Developments in the City.
