RAIN DELAY: I-64/Fort Eustis Blvd Ramp Closures

**UPDATE**

Inclement weather this week has caused the closures to be rescheduled for Thursday night, September 22, if possible. In the event it is delayed again, the closures will occur on the first night weather allows, with the exception of Friday or Saturday nights. We apologize for any inconvenience

Detours will be in place during closures on Tuesday, September 20

Contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close all east- and westbound lanes on Fort Eustis Boulevard (Route 105)i_64_Widening_SC from Warwick Boulevard to Jefferson Avenue, as well as Fort Eustis Boulevard on- and off-ramps to I-64 east and west on Tuesday, September 20, from 9 PM until 5 AM the following morning. The lane closures are necessary to perform bridge construction activities for the first segment of the I-64 Widening Project.

The full ramp closures include:
• The on-ramps from Fort Eustis Boulevard to I-64 east and west
• The off-ramp from I-64 east to Fort Eustis Boulevard east (exit 250B)
• The off-ramp from I-64 west to Fort Eustis Boulevard west (exit 250A)

The eastbound I-64 off-ramp to Fort Eustis Boulevard west (exit 250A) and the westbound I-64 off-ramp to Fort Eustis Boulevard east/Jefferson Avenue (exit 250B) will remain open.

All construction work is dependent upon weather conditions. A rain date has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 21, from 9 PM until 5 AM the following morning.

Signs will be in place to alert motorists to the ramp closures and detour.

During the Fort Eustis Boulevard closure, traffic will be detoured as follows:
Motorists traveling eastbound on Fort Eustis Boulevard will be detoured to Warwick Boulevard towards Yorktown Road (Route 238). Motorists traveling westbound on Fort Eustis Boulevard will take a left on Jefferson Avenue and be detoured to Industrial Park Drive.

During the I-64 eastbound to Fort Eustis Boulevard east off ramp closures, traffic will be detoured as follows:
Motorists will pass the entrance of the closed ramp from I-64 east to Fort Eustis Boulevard east (exit 250B) and will be detoured to Jefferson Avenue (exit 255).

During the I-64 westbound to Fort Eustis Boulevard west off ramp closures, traffic will be detoured as follows:
Motorists will pass the entrance of the closed ramp from I-64 west to Fort Eustis Boulevard west (exit 250A) and will be detoured to Lee Hall (exit 247).

About the I-64 Widening Project:
The project consists of two operationally independent segments to increase I-64 travel capacity on the Peninsula by adding a travel lane and shoulder lane in each direction between Jefferson Avenue (exit 255) and Yorktown Road (exit 247) for Segment I and from Yorktown Road (exit 247) to Route 199 (Humelsine Parkway/Marquis Center Parkway) near exit 242 for Segment II. Plans are to ultimately widen the interstate to the Route 199 interchange near Lightfoot in York County.
