Enjoy a weekend of activities during the 26th Annual Southeast Community Day Parade and Festival beginning Friday, September 9th through Sunday, September 11th. The events begin Friday at 6 PM with gospel music at the Dochiki Civic and Social Club. Come out Saturday for the Southeast Community Day Parade and festival and gospel music celebrations happening throughout the weekend.
The festival takes place Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM at Zion Baptist Church, 633 20th Street in Newport News. The parade begins on Saturday at 10 AM at Booker T. Washington Middle School and will end at the church, with the viewing stand at

2016 Jefferson Avenue. A commemorative march in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. begins at 12:30 PM immediately following the parade. Newport News City Council Member Marcellus L. Harris III and Newport News School Board Member John R. Eley III will serve as co-grand marshals for the parade. WAVY-TV 10’s Don Roberts, former Daily Press columnist and radio broadcaster Wil LaVeist and radio personality Mark Rawlison will serve as parade announcers.
