Unsolved cases are difficult for everyone involved – the family and friends who look for answers and closure, as well as the officers who work the cases. The detectives of the Newport News Police Department’s Cold Case Unit, with assistance from City Information Technology, partnered to create a
Cold Case webpage that is available to the public. The page provides information and photos from the Department's homicide and missing person cold cases with the intent that additional information and leads can be developed, ultimately solving each case.
The page is designed in an album format with cases grouped by year from 1999 and before to present day. A cold case album is also located on the
Police Department’s Facebook page. The Newport News

Police Department needs your help to bring closure to the victim's families and bring the offenders to justice.
If you have any information about the cases, contact the Cold Case Unit at 757-928-4247 or
coldcase@nnva.gov. You can also call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or Text-A-Tip by texting “Tip100” plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Crime Line callers will remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
