Disabled American Veterans Choose Newport News for 5K Race Destinations

Early Bird Registration Ends September 5th

DAV 5K handcyclistsThe Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization has chosen five cities to hold 5K Run/Walks as part of the commemoration of Veterans Day and Newport News is one of them! The DAV 5K Run to Honor Veterans is a run, walk, roll and motorcycle ride that thanks those who served and raises awareness of the issues of ill and injured veterans. The event takes place at City Center Oyster Point on Sunday, November 13th starting at 9 AM, but sign up now to receive the early-bird registration discount. Early-bird registration rates for the general public are available through midnight September 5th and include a race shirt, race bib and timing chip. Fees are $25 for adults and $15 for youth 6 - 17. All veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard and ROTC or service academy cadets are eligible for exclusive benefits on race day, including free registration. For $15, veterans will receive a custom branch-of-service race shirt (if registered by Oct. 16), a veteran thank-you bag and an invitation to the post-party. Veterans may also participate in the DAV 5K using a wheelchair or handcycle.

The DAV 5K is open to individual runners, walkers and motorcyclists as well as groups who wish to form a team. Everyone is encouraged to participate to honor our heroes. Sign up at
