Officers from the Newport News Police Department's North Precinct brought smiles to the faces of many when they knocked on the doors of families supported by Edmarc Hospice to hand-deliver Easter baskets.

Edmarc Hospice is a nonprofit organization that helps families with seriously ill children by offering home healthcare, hospice healthcare, bereavement support and nursing services. Every year Edmarc hosts an Easter event where churches, organizations and individuals donate and pass out Easter Baskets to lift the spirits of children. For the last few years, Newport News Public Safety officers have come together and participated in the event. This year police brightened the day when they came together to donate and deliver 37 baskets to children.
