The annual fogging operation to control the mosquito

population is well underway in the City of Newport News. Each year the Department of Public Works uses truck-mounted fogging machines to maximize the spread of mosquito control products over large areas. The mosquito control spray targets areas from dusk to dawn to reduce adult mosquitoes when they are most active. Fogging takes place three days per week through October 3rd. The concentration of spray operations varies based on mosquito surveillance activities.
Bee-keepers receive personal notification prior to spray operations.Visit the Public Works
