Newport News Public Libraries Offer Free Computer Classes

Posted on July 25, 2016 at 9:01 AM by Communications Department

Newport News Public Libraries Systems offers dozens of free computer classes each month for ages 12 and up. The classes are taught by computer lab specialists compuser_SCin the labs at Pearl Bailey, Main Street, Grissom, and South Morrison Libraries, and they cover topics like word processing, social media, and job searching. Course titles include Computer Basics 101 and 102, iPads for Newbies, Workforce Series, Internet 201, and Facebook 101 and 102, just to name a few. One-on-one assistance is also available for patrons who would like specific training. If interested in one-on-one assistance, simply call your Newport News Library of choice and schedule an appointment.

The skills learned in computer courses help patrons in many ways, such as finding jobs, learning new skills, or just keeping up with new technology. When computer classes are not in session, patrons use the computers for things like seeking employment, completing school work, staying in touch with friends and family, and accessing many of the free online resources provided by the library. The computer labs are a valued resource to all users but are vital to patrons who may have limited or no access to computers or internet outside of the library. For a list of upcoming computer classes, visit the online calendar.
