U.S. State Department Deputy Assistant Secretary to Speak
The 8th Annual Sister Cities International Breakfast is being held July 22 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at Christopher Newport University in the David Student Union Ballroom.

Sister Cities is honored to have Karen Richardson, U.S. State Department’s Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Public Affairs, who will speak on the topic “Engage America: Engaging Americans as Partners in U.S. Foreign Policy.” Born in Washington, DC, and raised in Los Angeles, California, Richardson has a BA from Howard University, a JD from Howard University School of Law, and a Masters in International Affairs from the London School of Economics.
The International Breakfast is free, but donations are accepted and reservations are required to attend. All proceeds from the breakfast benefit Sister Cities of Newport News, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. This annual event generates support for Cultural, Educational and Economic Exchanges between Newport News and her three (3) Sister Cities - Neyagawa (Japan), Taizhou (China), and Greifswald (Germany).
