Trees Being Removed on Mariners' Museum Property

Posted on March 24, 2016 at 9:41 AM by Communications Department

3-24-mariners-treeThis past Monday, March 21st, and continuing through March 31st, weather permitting, the City will be removing four of seven large oak trees located on Mariners Museum property adjacent to the Warwick Boulevard right-of-way south of Copeland Lane. These trees are aged and are a hazard to Warwick Boulevard traffic, park visitors and to users of the future Mariners’ Museum Trail to be constructed between Warwick Boulevard and Boundary Road in the vicinity.

During the design phase of the trail, every effort to retain mature trees will be made and replacement landscaping with tree plantings will be a feature of the coming trail construction. Other select trees adjacent to the Warwick Boulevard right-of-way may be removed as time permits before the first of April. Once the Mariners’ Museum Trail construction begins, some additional trees in the path of the planned trail may be removed and replacement trees will be planted once construction is completed. It is anticipated that the trail will be offered for bid in April or May and will be under construction by July of this year.
