Reporting Criminal Activity

With summer here and residents leaving for vacation, the Newport News Police Department reminds citizens of the multiple ways to report criminal activity and information.crimestoppers_SC As always, 911 remains the primary reporting method for emergencies. The Department’s non-emergency number, 757-247-2500, can be used when citizens would like to meet with an officer yet it doesn’t require an immediate response. The Records Division, 757-928-4100, can be used for citizens who would like to file a police report over the phone.

Understanding that citizens are often reluctant to identify themselves out of fear, citizens can call CrimeLine at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or use the web-based TipSoft program and remain anonymous. Please remember make your community safer and say something.
