Real talk about why young people are drawn to join gangs and how we can prevent it
Join Donnie Walton, also known as D3, a former gang member

and now a motivational speaker on gang prevention, for a frank discussion about the lure of gangs and how to prevent gang involvement. On Tuesday, July 12 at 6:00 PM, D3 will open his life to the audience, drawing on his personal experiences with gangs, family, and violence to inspire and teach about who joins gangs and why, and how parents can help change the course for their children. Walton takes honesty to a new level as he describes the events that caused him to change his life. The event will be held at South Morrison Family Education Center, 746 Adams Drive in Newport News and is funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Community-Based Violence Prevention grant.
Please RSVP by July 8th to Shelley Matthews at 757-369-6834 or
smatthews@nnva.gov. D3 was featured in a
WAVY-TV special report “Inside the Life of a Gang Member.”
