Progress continues on an $8 million Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) project to install approximately 10,300 linear feet of sanitary sewer pipe and valves to replace pipeline built in 1970s. The new installation will reduce the likelihood of a pipeline failure, improve system operation, increase capacity and enhance HRSD’s ability to protect public health and the environment for decades to come.

The project involves replacing pipeline along Warwick Boulevard from Scufflefield Road, to Boxley Boulevard, along Boxley to Menchville Road, and Menchville to Riverview Farm Park. The contractor, Basic Construction, is currently working along Riverview towards Menchville Road. After July 4, crews start working along Boxley Boulevard towards Menchville High School. The installation of the pipeline under Warwick Boulevard is also expected to start in early July. Construction typically will be limited to sections of 300 linear feet to help minimize traffic impacts. More information is available on
HRSD’s website.
