James River Fishing Pier New Extension Now Open
The James River Fishing Pier is almost double in length now that the second phase extension is open to the public. The completion of Phase II adds 1,112 linear feet to the newly built pier that opened last summer, providing a recreational 2,364 total feet of pier length. James River Fishing Pier operates 24 hours most days during the summer and is beautifully lit with LED lights for night fishing. The new extension also includes a wider T-shaped portion at the end of the pier.

This means our local fishermen have new decisions to make about where on the pier to cast their line and how early they will need to be there to get a prime spot on the T-end. The
James River Pier, located at the foot of the James River Bridge, is now open
summer hours - 8am – 11pm (Mondays and Tuesdays) and 24 hours beginning 8am Wednesdays through 11pm Sundays). The cost is $9 for adults and $7 for seniors and children 6-12. No fishing license is required and bait and tackle are available for purchase. Contact the James River Fishing Pier at 757-247-0364.
