In their regular meeting this morning, the Peninsula Airport Commission, the governing body for the Newport News/Williamsburg Airport, elected Hampton Mayor George Wallace as its Chairman beginning the new fiscal year, which starts July 1st. Newport News

City Manager Jim Bourey has served as the Chair the past two years. It is the practice of the Commission to rotate Chairs every two years. Wallace is the outgoing Mayor of the City of Hampton and will be completing his term as Mayor the end of June.
Bourey, who was recently appointed to an additional four year term by the Newport News City Council, reflected on his time as Chair saying, "It has been an honor to serve as the Chair. The airport has made great strides toward significantly increasing revenues and has laid the groundwork for adding additional air service. Our hometown airport is in great shape and will play an even greater role in the quality of life of the Peninsula and fostering our economic development."
