Full-day camps start tomorrow
Newport News Parks, Recreation and Tourism operates a variety of 20 summer camps throughout the city making them the premiere destination for out of school time. During summer break, these camps offer affordable options for local families. Residents can take advantage of very competitive rates on weekly summer camps along with special interest activities and classes. “We have programs at the Brittingham-Midtown, Doris Miller and Denbigh Community Centers as well as schools, churches and housing developments across the city, with trained and licensed staff for youth ages 3 through 8th grade,” explains Casey Jenkins, Superintendent of Youth Programs. Activities include sports, reading, learning, arts & crafts, enrichment, exercise, field trips and supervised play.
