Because of the great deal of interest and concern about traffic conditions related to the proposed Plaza at Jefferson development, the City of Newport News has developed a video that shows how the projected traffic

improvements would work. The development is proposed to be built at Jefferson Avenue and I-64 and would include a new Wegmans grocery store. Today the Jefferson Avenue / Brick Kiln Boulevard intersection is operating with significant delays. The proposed development includes a number of improvements – such as extending Habersham Drive to connect to Brick Kiln, additional turn lanes and pedestrian islands – that would decrease the delays along the Jefferson Avenue corridor, even with the added traffic for the proposed development.
The link below provides access to the city website, where the video and more details, including the traffic models, can be viewed.
