Despite the actions of way too many people, it really is illegal to dump trash and debris on any property without consent of the property owner. This includes dumping debris on City right of ways, vacant lots, sidewalks and even in front of a neighbor’s house. The City of Newport News is asking residents to partner with them and battle the ongoing problem of illegal dumping in the community by opening up the lines of communication.
Call 311 or email
StopIllegalDumping@nnva.gov to report sightings of illegal dumping. City residents who pay a Solid Waste user fee have the option to dispose of a variety of materials at the
Recovery Operations Center, located at 550 Atkinson Way. For questions on how or where to dispose of unwanted items or debris, please contact the City’s 311 Center at
311@nnva.gov or 757-933-2311.
