If you see hordes of people wearing purple on

May 20th, it’s not in honor of singer Prince, it’s actually “Put on Purple” Day in support of Lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that ravages different parts of the body by attacking and destroying healthy tissue. With no cure, the disease affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans and 5 million people worldwide. The local chapter of the Lupus Foundation is doing their part to make sure people are aware of the disease.
The group wants to fill John B. Todd Stadium with hundreds of people on June 25 to participate in The Walk to End Lupus Now™ Hampton Roads event. The largest Lupus walk program in the country, the Lupus Foundation of America’s Walk to End Lupus Now events bring communities together to raise money for research, increase awareness, and rally public support for those who suffer from its brutal impact.

The event will have a special grand marshal, Evelyn Braxton, star of hit WETv reality show The Braxtons and mother of six-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Toni Braxton. This cause is very important to Mrs. Braxton, as her daughter Toni suffers from Lupus.
Anyone interested in participating in the walk can
