Free Spring Break Fun at Newport News Public Library

Head to Newport News Public Library this Spring Break for fun, free events and giveaways for the whole family.
 
Grissom Library’s Spring Break STAYcation kicks off with Stranger Danger Awareness on Monday, April 2 at 1 p.m. Children ages 3 to 9 will learn about personal safety, the dangers of strangers, and specific techniques for self-defense. Family Jeopardy Night, an all-ages event, is Tuesday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. Fairy Tale Bash on Wednesday, April 4 at 1 p.m. is an afternoon of fairy tale fun for ages 3 and up. Continue the fun at Kids’ Crafternoon on Thursday, April 5 at 2 p.m., where children ages 6 and up will make DIY lip gloss, bouncy balls, sand art, and rock blow art. Wrap up the week at LEGO Club and Movie on Friday, April 6 at 2 p.m. Children ages 6 to 11 will create their own LEGO design while watching The LEGO Ninjago Movie. Main Street Library is hosting Family Game Night on Monday, April 2 at 6 p.m. All ages are welcome to play board games, including UNO, Suspend, Operation, and Bonk. No registration is required for Family Game Night. For more information, call Main Street Library at 757-591-4858.
 
The Spring Break fun continues at Pearl Bailey Library on Tuesday, April 3 at 2 p.m. at Emoji Keychains. Children and teens ages 7 to 17 will use Perler beads to make these fun keychains. Registration is required for Emoji Keychains. For more information, call Pearl Bailey Library at 757-247-8677.
 
South Morrison Library is celebrating Spring Break with two weeklong programs: And the Book Says and Marvel & DC Week. During And the Book Says, children and teens ages 5 to 17 will read from selected books then answer questions. Participants will receive an entry into a giveaway for each book read. Entries must be submitted by noon on April 6, 2018. Marvel & DC Week provides participants with their daily dose of superhero movies, giveaways, and light refreshments. Watch a different movie every day from Monday, April 2 to Friday, April 6 at 1 p.m. No registration is required for And the Book Says or Marvel & DC Week.
