City Council Meeting Recap small
Liebherr Expansion Support
In support of Liebherr’s $45 million expansion announcement (details in separate article), City Council last night approved vacating a portion of 48th Street and transferring it to Liebherr. An appropriation of $750,000 was also approved for infrastructure improvements to accommodate the facility expansion and benefit the broader Copeland Industrial Park business community.

Wawa Coming to Jefferson and Harpersville
City Council took several actions last night to accommodate a request to add a Wawa convenience store and gas station at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Harpersville Road.  Council approved Conditional Use Permits and a rezoning request for several properties adjacent to the carwash/laundromat business currently at that location. These actions allow for carwash/laundromat to be relocated to the rear of an enlarged site and for the construction of a Wawa with abundant landscaping, attractive designs and quality materials.

  • $150,000 from the Police Asset Forfeiture Fund was appropriated to the department for the purchase of operational equipment including tasers for patrol officers and helmets and vests for TACT team officers.

Project are to ensure the continued structural and operational integrity of buildings; increase energy efficiency; and maintain and improve interior environmental conditions and occupant comfort levels.
