Looking for help finding a job? Visit Pearl Bailey Library on
March 14 from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for the Let’s Get to Work! Employment Workshop. Come learn job-searching skills such as building a resume, practice interview skills, discover job resources available through the Peninsula Worklink Career resource center, and find out special tips and resources available to ex-offenders rejoining the workforce. A light lunch will be provided, and program registration is required.
March 14 is also Pi Day. Visit Grissom Library
at 6:30 p.m. for a pie demo and recipe swap. Bring a recipe to share with others, learn about pie-making, and enjoy a sampling of pie courtesy of Wildflour Cakes & Pastries. Registration is required for this free event and all ages are welcome.

2018 is the year of Pearl Bailey, a Newport News native and Tony award-winning singer and actress. In celebration of her 100th birthday, children ages 7 and older can create artwork during Music Mosaic. The program will take place at Pearl Bailey Library on
Tuesday, March 20, at 4:30 p.m. and will feature a colorful and creative afternoon making mosaics out of construction paper. That evening, everyone is welcome to attend a free lawn care seminar presented by the Newport News Master Gardeners at Grissom Library
at 6:30 p.m.
Later that week, bring your family to Main Street Library for Eggtropolis: Venture in the Wild.
On Saturday, March 24, from noon until 2 p.m., children ages 9 to 12 can come learn about different kinds of animal eggs during a special presentation from the Virginia Living Museum, play a live-action game of CLUE, and enjoy special treats. Children 8 and under are invited to join us from 2:30 to 5 p.m. that same day for a dinosaur egg hunt, balloons, face painting, and treats.
Finally, on
Monday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m., children 5 and under can visit Grissom Library in their coziest jammies with their favorite stuffed animal for Starry Night Stories. Space is limited and registration is required.
